Margaret
Carlson, founder and artistic director of Flute Frenzy,
is also a member of the Williamsburg Symphonia. Her
previous orchestral positions have been with the Ft. Wayne
Philharmonic, the Norfolk Symphony, and the Virginia Opera.
She has served as a coach for the flute section of Jamestown
High School's band, as well as the Williamsburg Youth
Orchestra chamber program. In addition she performs with a
variety of professional chamber ensembles. Ms.
Carlson holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Greensboro
College and Master of Music degree from the Cleveland
Institute of Music. Her teachers include Maurice Sharp,
William Hebert, Julius Baker and Thomas Nyfenger.
Flute
Frenzy is a flute choir experience for youth flutists in
6th-12th grades. Presently their members represent 12
different schools in the area. The group practices weekly
on Tuesday evenings at Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
Flute Frenzy was founded in May 2000, and has performed for
the 2002 National Flute Association's Annual Convention, the
2004 VMEA annual convention, and the 2007 Jamestown
Anniversary Weekend. They perform regularly at various
venues in the Historic Triangle, including the Kimball
Theatre, the Williamsburg Regional Library and various
churches. Margaret Carlson is the founder and artistic
director of Flute Frenzy. More information about the group
