Wayne Hedrick

Wayne Hedrick was the principal flutist of the USAF Heritage of America Band for over 20 years, where he retired in the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in 2004.  His extensive discography of over 70 albums includes albums on the Klavier label, the Telarc label (including a 1993 Grammy Award winner), and the Wilson Audiophile label.  He has performed or recorded with the USAF Heritage of America Band, The U.S. Air Force Band in Washington D.C, the National Chamber Players, the National Symphonic Winds, the Virginia Symphony and the Williamsburg Symphonia and several other USAF Regional Bands.  He performed at the 6th International World Harp Congress in Seattle Washington and the 2000 National Flute Association Convention in Columbus, Ohio.  His copyrighted flute-fingering chart “Practical Alternative Fingerings for Flute” was featured on Larry Krantz’s website for about 20 years, and is now at www.flutefingerings.com

Wayne has studied extensively with Carol Kniebusch Noe and either privately or in Master Classes with Geoffrey Gilbert, Peter Lloyd, and Paula Elliot.  He lives in Newport News with his wife Mitzi.  They have two daughters, Jessica and Katelyn.
